Many people like the dual slider phones. One way, it’s a full keyboard. The other, it’s a standard number pad. This is the appeal of the Matrix. However, it doesn’t do everything like it should.
Pros first…
* Has a camera, although the quality is pretty shabby at 1.3 megapixels.
* Has a full keyboard.
* Comes in at least 2 different colors.
* Is 3G enabled, so you can use the GPS services and use high speed data.
Cons…
* Doesn’t seem ‘sturdy’ – definitely get insurance or the Best Buy protection plan.
* Keyboard is a bit small – the letters at the top of the keyboard are difficult to press unless you have tiny thumbs.
* Because of the dual slider function, the phone is thicker than most phones.
* Not sure how long the dual slider function will last – just one or two more parts that could break in the long run.
* Pantech chargers can be incredibly hard to find in stores, as well as cases.
In closing – if you have small thumbs or really liked the last Pantech slider, you’ll have no problem getting used to this phone. It’s everything the last edition was, plus more. If not, I’d probably skip this one, as there are many other better phones on the market.

I bought this phone 3 days ago after losing my RAZR phone. I fell in love with the key board and sliding mechanism. I do have one complaint and I hope it is operator error on my part. There is no audible alert sound for voice mails/missed calls. The only way you know you have missed a call is if you physically pick up the phone, depress a button and see if a called was missed. there is an audible alert for text messages. This is an important function for me as I have a young child and would hate to miss his call in an emergency. Additionally, I don’t want to be a slave to this phone, having to check it frequently, just to see if I missed a call. AT&T could not find this function when I called them. I have just emailed the Pantech company, hoping this is an oversite on my part. Should this function not be available, I will return this phone, unfortunately, and find another phone.

I have had this phone since January and have yet to have a problem with it. It is sturdy even with me throwing it around a little. While it is bulkier, you can still fit it in your pocket and feel it when it goes off. Also, there has been no problem with the sliding keyboards (I slide them back and forth when I’m really bored…which is frequent) and the screen switches perfectly when you change between the keyboards. Overall, I adore this phone and love how easy it is to use and its fast!

I love my new phone. It’s very user friendly and I never had to deal with the service provider other than to activate the phone….I couldnt believe the price and thought I would have other hidden costs when I received my first bill but that was not the case at all. I even recommended it to my friends and several have bought one and love it as well.

just got this phone for my mom and have been trying to figure it out for her… this phone is just not easy to use. not at all self explanatory, i can’t figure it out even with the manual. i have had numerous cell phones (nokias, razrs, and on my second iphone) so i am not a newbie. totally agree with the reviewer regarding the small size of the upper row of buttons on he keyboard being too small. also i have been kicked into the web browser three times – which costs money, and she really doesn’t need more charges. it is going back – if i can’t figure it out, and if i can’t there is no way my mom is going to be able to successfully use it. maybe i am just spoiled with the iphone. i feel like they tried to pack to many features into a phone, and totally forgot to make it user friendly. currently i can’t even find out where to plug the charger in! do i need to remove the case they put on in the store? who knows. not that i am the most technical savvy person – but i have never needed to even read a cell phone manual. phone is rotten.
